How to winterize an RV?

Here are the basic steps to to winterize your RV:

  1. 💧 Drain the water system: Empty the fresh water tank, gray water tank, black water tank, and the water heater. This prevents freezing water from damaging the pipes.
  2. 💨🩸 Blow out or add antifreeze: Use compressed air to blow out any remaining water in the pipes, or add RV antifreeze to the water lines to protect them from freezing.
  3. 🌡️ Protect the water heater: Bypass the water heater to avoid filling it with antifreeze, or fully drain it if using the air method.
  4. 🪟 Seal vents and windows: Check for any gaps or leaks around windows, doors, and vents, and seal them to prevent cold drafts and moisture from getting in.
  5. 🍏 Remove perishables: Take out any food or items that could spoil or attract pests while the RV is in storage.
  6. 🔌 Disconnect the battery: If storing your RV for the winter, disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining. Store the battery in a warm place if possible.
