What Are Van Flares?
Van flares (also called side flares, van capsules, or bump outs) are exterior extensions added to the sides of a van to increase interior width—especially in the sleeping area. Flares let you sleep sideways in your van, freeing up valuable floor space for things like a kitchen, gear storage, or a seating area.
They’re especially popular in vans like the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, and Ram Promaster. Some van flares include windows (called window flares), while others are blank and can be customized later.
